Interim Executive Director

Prior to stepping into the interim ED role, Ellen served as Chief of Staff. She continues to manage human resources and all day-to-day operations to ensure organizational efficiency.  She is also responsible for making sure that all MRAIA activities adhere to legal guidelines and policies.
 

Ellen joined MRAIA in 2014. Before that she was employed by Hektoen Institute for 15 years where she coordinated several research studies for the division of Infectious Diseases at Stroger Hospital of Cook County. Notable projects include the Chicago Antimicrobial Resistance Project and the Chicago Prevention and Intervention Epicenter.

Ellen has a B.S. in Biology from Northeastern Illinois University.  While she has been a lifelong Chicagoan, she now resides in southwestern Michigan with her husband and a very spoiled dog. She is passionate about the environment and nature. She enjoys being outdoors hiking, biking and gardening.
